During this time I was also incredibly addicted to my phone and very rarely spent any time in the quiet or outdoors in nature.
Throughout my studies I became fascinated with the world of neuroscience and specifically our brain chemicals. I spent my free time studying them and learning absolutely everything I could about them.
In the summer of 2019, I hit my lowest point with the drugs and alcohol and decided I was ready to really work on my mental health, my relationships and my career.
During this time, I set out with some simple changes, daily walks in nature without my phone, meditation, spending time with inspiring people, focusing on my diet and exercise and creating a strategy to build my career. I also stopped drinking alcohol or taking any drugs.
I adopted these simple practices based on the effect it would have on my dopamine (motivation), oxytocin (relationships), serotonin (emotions) and endorphins (stress levels).
Throughout this summer my life radically transformed, I fulfilled one of my dreams of becoming a psychology lecturer at Exeter University and began travelling internationally to speak on this topic.
Fast forward 3 years and I am now a neuroscientist and the co-founder of Neurify teaching our DOSE method to thousands of people every month!
